Tripoli urges Turkish businessmen to invest in Libya

 

The Libyan Government of National Unity urged Turkish businessmen to work in their country and develop relations with the private sector.

This came in the words of the Minister of Economy and Trade of the Libyan National Unity Government, Muhammad Al-Hawij, during his meeting, on Wednesday, with a delegation of business owners from Turkey, headed by the head of the Turkish-Libyan Business Owners Council, Mortada Kronfil.

A statement by the Libyan Ministry of Economy said that the meeting, which took place in the ministry’s office in Tripoli, “came a continuation of the Istanbul meetings in mid-May, within the framework of strengthening economic ties and networking between business owners and investors in both countries.”

The statement indicated that the meeting “discussed the role of Turkish companies in developing the infrastructure in various sectors and participating in the implementation of the exhibition city, south of the capital, Tripoli, under the supervision of the Ministry’s General Exhibitions Authority.”

The meeting also discussed “strengthening the partnership between the private sector in the two countries to implement investment projects in the oil and gas sector, establish refineries for petroleum products under the supervision of the Libyan National Oil Corporation, support the Ministry of Health to localize treatment at home, and establish a joint hospital in the capital, Tripoli.”

According to the statement, “the Libyan minister urged the Turkish side to develop relations with the private sector in the State of Libya and to participate in the implementation of approved projects in accordance with the vision of the national unity government.”

He said, according to the statement, that this is “to develop ports, establish free and private zones, stimulate transit trade towards the African market, and contribute to the settlement of industrial and agricultural projects in all regions.”

Turkish businessmen are very active in Libya, while the Turkish Industrialists and Independent Businessmen Association “Musiad” opened a branch in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, on May 16 of last year
