Arab Parliament welcomes the outcomes of the Egyptian-Ethiopian summit regarding the Renaissance Dam negotiations

Adel bin Abd al-Rahman al-Assoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, affirmed that the Arab Parliament welcomed the outcomes of the bilateral summit held between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Prime Minister of Democratic Federal Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, to overcome the current stalemate in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam negotiations, expressing his hope that this would contribute Consensus in reaching a binding legal agreement regarding the filling and operation of the Renaissance Dam in a way that preserves the water rights of both Egypt and Sudan.

Al-Assoumi renewed the firm position of the Arab Parliament regarding support for the water rights of both Egypt and Sudan in the Nile waters, praising the Egyptian state’s management of this file through the wise approach and discreet diplomacy followed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
