Libyan News Agency:
Saturday, the British Ambassador to Libya, Caroline Horland, urged the Libyan leaders to deal with the Special Envoy in a constructive manner, stressing that Britain fully supports the efforts of the UN envoy.
“Horland” said in a tweet published by the embassy on its Twitter account that the success of the elections in Libya requires a broader political and social consensus on the main issues, in addition to the implementation of all laws.
The ambassador reiterated her support, and that of her country, for the initiative of the UN envoy, Abdullah Batili, regarding the elections.
The UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, presented today, Saturday, his initiative to hold elections this year, which he had previously presented on February 27 to the UN Security Council.
I fully support the SRSG’s @Bathily_UNSMIL initiative. Successful elections in 🇱🇾 require broader political and community consensus on key issues, in addition to finalising laws. I urge Libya’s leaders to engage constructively with the SRSG. 🇬🇧 stands in full support.
