Egypt and Azerbaijan Discuss Prospects of Economic Ties

Azerbaijani ambassador to Egypt Elkhan Polukhov has met with Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala El-Said to discuss prospects of economic relations between the two countries.

El-Said stressed the importance of the documents signed as a part of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visit to Baku on January 28, as well as the MoU inked with Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, in terms of developing economic cooperation between Egypt and Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the prospects of economic relations between Azerbaijan and Egypt, El-Said underlined that the business-forum held in Baku with the participation of Azerbaijani and Egyptian businessmen, as well as the meetings of the ministers, refers wide opportunities for cooperation in infrastructure projects, investment, transport and renewable energy.

The Egyptian minister noted that the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE) can also implement joint programs with the relevant institutions of Azerbaijan.

On his part, Polukhov spoke of the importance of agreements on trade, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and investment opportunities between the two friendly countries, saying that the fifth meeting of Azerbaijan-Egypt Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in Baku last February approved the roadmap for the development of cooperation in the coming years.
