Egypt is completing its role in international agreements to support environmental investment for developing countries

Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, chaired a series of meetings with her Canadian counterpart, in the presence of the Chinese presidency of the conference, which began with a meeting with the head of the European Union group of countries.

This is to review the visions and proposals of each group and to work on converging views and presenting ideas and solutions, which facilitates the processes of stopping the deterioration of biological diversity.

As well as linking the issue of climate change to biological diversity, as part of the high-level segment meetings of the fifteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity.

Which will be held in Montreal during the period from 7 to 19 December, under the chairmanship of China, the current president of the 15th session of the conference.

The meeting witnessed the presentation of what has been reached towards preserving biological diversity.

The Minister of Environment reviewed the Egyptian experience in preserving biodiversity and preserving natural reserves by involving the local population and the private sector in their management.

This is done by changing the concept that protected areas cannot be touched, and shifting to the concept of partnership in managing and developing them to achieve their sustainability, and by providing the opportunity for the private sector to invest in providing services in them, in order to achieve true preservation of their biological diversity.

The Minister of Environment also continued her series of meetings and met with the Latin American and Caribbean Islands group to discuss visions and proposals and work to bring points of view closer.

Presenting ideas and solutions that facilitate the processes of halting the deterioration of biological diversity.
