Foreign ministers of Egypt and Cyprus agree to continue consultations on regional files and international issues

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry said that he looks forward to receiving his new Cypriot counterpart, Constantinos Kombos, in Cairo as soon as possible.

Shoukry congratulated Kombos in a phone call on assuming his duties within the framework of the ministerial formation of the new Cypriot government.

The ministers praised the strong strategic relations between Egypt and Cyprus and the bonds of friendship that bind them, stressing the importance of continuing coordination and joint work between the two countries.

The two ministers also touched on regional files and international issues of common concern and affirmed the continuation of consultations between them during the coming period.

Over the past years, Egypt and Cyprus have been keen to enhance their bilateral cooperation and also their trilateral cooperation with Greece in various fields, especially regarding the economy and energy.
