The UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, met yesterday, Sunday, in Tripoli, with a number of members of the Committee to Follow up on the Conditions of Political Prisoners, representing the various Libyan components and regions.
“I got acquainted with their views on the process of national reconciliation and transitional justice, and listened to their concerns about the situation of the detainees,” Bathily said in a tweet posted on his account on the social networking site “Twitter,” stressing the urgent need for free, inclusive and credible elections.
He added, I recalled the ongoing efforts of the Libyan Presidential Council, the African Union, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, and other partners on national reconciliation.
Bathily concluded his tweet, saying: I also emphasized the centrality of human rights in the work of the United Nations with Libyan partners.
