Sudan: World Health Organization announces support for the operation of 7 hospitals on Gezira

Dr. Osama Abdel-Rahman Ahmed Al-Faki, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gezira State, received in his office Dr. Nima Abed Saeed, Country Director of the World Health Organization in Sudan, who indicated that his visit to Gezira State comes to check on health services in the state and help implement urgent interventions and provide operational costs for 7 hospitals and support them. For a period of three months, it includes Gezira Hospitals for Kidney Diseases and Surgery, Pediatric Internal Medicine, Mental Health, Madani Teaching Hospital, Women and Obstetrics, in addition to Al-Hasahisa General Hospital and Gezira Trauma Center.

He pointed out that the visit also aims to see the opening of the World Health Organization office in the state to help implement activities for environmental sanitation, water, nutrition, disease surveillance and sending reports on diseases, emergencies and injuries, praising the partnership and coordination between the state Ministry of Health and the organization in implementing many activities.

For his part, the Sudanese Director General of Health welcomed the visit of the World Health Organization’s country director to the state, which will last for two days, adding that the visit is considered a good omen to strengthen the efforts of the Ministry of Health aimed at developing and renaissance of the health sector, praising the great support provided by the organization to a number of health institutions in the state, declaring his happiness at the completion of arrangements for the opening of An office for the organization in the state of Gezira, which is considered an asset for supporting health activities.

On the other hand, Dr. Nima Abed Saeed made an inspection visit to Gezira Hospital for Kidney Diseases and Surgery and the Internal Medicine Children’s Hospital, during which he examined the obstacles that hinder the provision of medical services.
