, Lattakia Governorate received a shipment of humanitarian and relief aid provided by the Pakistani governmentIt had arrived on board two ships yesterday and the day before yesterday to the port of Latakia.

The Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus, Safdar Ali Khan, said in a statement to reporters that, in light of the decades-old fraternal relations between Syria and Pakistan, it was necessary to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian brothers affected by the devastating earthquake that struck their country recently, noting that today 63 containers were unloaded. It weighs about 1,300 tons, and includes relief materials, food, infant formula, electric generators, and lighting devices.

Ali Khan added: “The Pakistani government contributed from the first moments of the earthquake by sending 9 planes that arrived at Damascus International Airport successively loaded with relief materials, in addition to the arrival of a number of doctors who provided assistance since the beginning of the earthquake,” pointing out that the need to deliver the largest number of aid It was necessary to resort to ships, as the last ship that arrived in the port of Latakia in the context of aid was the fifth of its kind.

In his turn, a member of the specialized executive office for the trade and industry sector, Dr. Maali Ibrahim, thanked the Republic of Pakistan for its permanent support for Syria in times of crises, indicating that the governorate’s mission lies in clearing goods, unloading containers and delivering them to relief warehouses, to be distributed later to the people affected by the earthquake.
