Defense Minister Thabet Muhammad Al-Abbasi stressed the necessity of fortifying defensive positions in a way that ensures the safety of fighters and intensifying the intelligence effort.
A statement by the Ministry of Defense, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “Defense Minister Thabet Muhammad al-Abbasi chaired, on Monday evening, a security meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, in the presence of the head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and senior officers in the Ministry.”
He added, “The Minister of Defense discussed with the security leaders a number of issues related to the security issue, the readiness of the units, and the level of combat readiness.”
The minister affirmed, according to the statement, his continuous follow-up to the air strikes carried out by the air force and army aviation against the terrorist ISIS gangs, stressing the need to fortify the defensive positions in a way that ensures the safety of the fighters, intensifying the intelligence effort, and following up the fighters in all respects.
