The US ambassador and special envoy to Libya, “Richard Norland,” said, “It is possible to hold elections in Libya during the current year 2023.”
Norland added, in an interview on tv channel, that “the initiative of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, came after in-depth consultations with Libyan politicians and international parties based on mobilizing international efforts and bringing together the actors to hold elections.”
Norland stressed the importance of reaching consensus on a constitutional basis for holding elections whose results are respected by the winner and the losers, as he put it.
