Bahrain : Crown Prince chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet extended its best wishes to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to Bahraini citizens, and to the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

To mark the Community Partnership and Belonging to the Nation Day, the Cabinet emphasised the importance of loyalty to the nation and commended the initiatives adopted by the Ministry of Interior to strengthen the Kingdom’s sense of community.

Marking Bahrain Youth Day, which falls annually on 25 March, the Cabinet commended the role played by Bahraini youth in furthering the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The Cabinet welcomed Bahrain International Airport being named as the World’s Best Airport for Baggage Delivery and the Best Airport Staff in the Middle East at the World Airport Awards, held at the 2023 Passenger Terminal EXPO in Amsterdam. In this regard, the Cabinet noted the importance of developing airport services and competitiveness and commended the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, and the Bahrain Airport Company for this achievement.

The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:

1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law ratifying the direct facilitation agreement in support of the water distribution project associated with the second phase of the Al Dur Independent Water and Power Project.

2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to reestablish a committee to monitor the implementation of the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) and its related initiatives.

3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding an MoU between the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, and Kanazawa University in Japan for the establishment of the Bahrain Centre for Antiquities and Cultural Heritage of the Arabian Gulf.

4. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs regarding the acquisition of real estate for public use to provide the necessary spaces for urban development.

5. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and President of the Board of Directors of the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA) on developments in the implementation of national examinations.

6. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and President of the Board of Directors of the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA) regarding the approval of the Authority’s reports.

7. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to five proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.

The Cabinet then reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Sustainable Development regarding developments in the implementation of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s second voluntary national review on achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
