King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language concludes the celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language at the United Nations

the event to celebrate the International Arabic Language Day, organized by the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, in cooperation with the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, was concluded for two days at the United Nations headquarters in New York, under the auspices of His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman International Complex for the Arabic Language.

The celebration came under the title “The Arabic Language in the United Nations: A Half-Century Journey”; This is to review the history of the Arabic language in the United Nations, study its reality, and anticipate its future.

At this year’s celebration, prominent speeches were delivered that praised the role of the Arabic language in human civilization and culture, including: A speech by the Secretary-General of the “King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language” Prof. Dr..
During the celebration, which it organized for the second year in a row, the complex presented an important program that varied between seminars and discussion sessions, art and cultural exhibitions, and meetings with academics and researchers. Scientific and research projects related to the work of the complex, in the Arabic language, and the importance of its worldwide spread were reviewed.

Among the titles of the main discussion sessions, which were held with the participation of prominent linguistic experts, were: “Linguistic and cultural pluralism in the United Nations”, “Translation from and into Arabic at the United Nations”, and “The March of the Arabic Language at the United Nations”, in addition to three panel discussions. These are: “Linguistic Management in Social Media”, “Arabic Language and the Arts”, and “Principles of Translation in International Organizations”.
The ceremony culminated in the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language launching a reference book on the Arabic language in international organizations, entitled “History of the Arabic Language in the United Nations Organization.” A group of experts and officials participated in it.

The complex also organized the exhibition “The Arabic Language and its History at the United Nations”, which included a corner introducing the complex and its activities, a documentary exhibition on the history of the Arabic language in the United Nations, a corner for Arabic calligraphy, and a corner for the Arabic Language Club at the United Nations.

To enhance the role of Arab culture in aspects of living and life, the exhibition included a special corner for the “Music Authority” that shows the association of music with the Arabic language and its expression of the heritage that constitutes Arab identity. To promote Saudi and Arab culture.

On the eighteenth of December every year, the world celebrates the International Day of the Arabic Language, which is the day corresponding to the historic decision taken by the United Nations General Assembly in 1973 AD to adopt the Arabic language as the sixth official language in the organization, thanks to the great efforts in which the Arab countries joined hands.

The celebration of the complex comes within a package of various programs to support the Arabic language and enhance its presence in various international organizations, particularly the United Nations.
