Qatar: Expansion of Hamad Airport, raising its capacity to 70 million passengers annually

Hamad International Airport, the main airport in Qatar, announced the launch of a new expansion of the airport, which aims to increase its capacity to more than 70 million passengers annually.
The Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport, Engineer Badr Muhammad Al-Meer, said in statements today, Saturday, that the new expansion will start at the beginning of next year and will be in line with the highest international standards.
The latest expansion at Hamad International Airport was completed last month, a few days before the start of the 2022 World Cup, according to which the airport’s capacity was increased to 58 million passengers.
Al-Meer explained that the expansion provides world-class services for passengers, hotels, multiple terminals, a modern and futuristic indoor tropical garden, as well as equipping the airport with the latest technological technologies in various facilities and services.
He stressed that the innovation factor when implementing each new expansion of the airport plays an important role in the development of operations and the aviation industry, explaining that the airport harnesses the latest technologies and innovative solutions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for passengers, and to establish a sustainable and environmentally friendly airport equipped to achieve successful business results for business owners and partners.
Hamad International Airport currently serves more than 165 destinations around the world.
