Saudi Arabia: Transforming Mecca and Medina into a center of attraction for Islamic economic activities

Three economic entities are allied to transform Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah into a center of attraction for financial and business activities in the Islamic world, in a ceremony that will be held next Wednesday at the Makkah Chamber Center for Exhibitions and Events, under the auspices of the Saudi Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, and in the presence of Representatives of the 57 countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and a number of diplomats.

The celebration is witnessing, according to the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA”, the signing of a qualitative partnership agreement between the Chamber of Commerce in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the Chamber of Madinah Al-Munawwarah, and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, in the presence of the heads and officials of the three chambers; With the aim of investing the sacred status of the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah in the world, and transforming them into a center of attraction for business activities, and a springboard for knowledge and creativity related to the Islamic world and Islamic practices.

The agency quoted the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Abdullah Saleh Kamel as saying that the agreement aims to provide logistical support on the ground in both holy cities, support investment in them and provide all the necessary capabilities to raise the efficiency of the investment environment, as well as About achieving the integrated vision in planning various events at an international level, providing a strong network of international relations to continuously provide various success partners, and providing permanent international tools to promote all partnership outputs globally.

He added: This tripartite partnership will give the two holy cities and business sectors a great impetus through a set of tracks represented in exhibitions and forums, future lectures, workshops, dialogues with decision-makers from the Islamic world, the movement of business delegations, in addition to the course of studies and reports, then advanced training. And dialogues with business leaders, then the course of Islamic art and culture.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Madinah Chamber, Munir Muhammad Nasser bin Saad, confirmed that the partnership between the three chambers of commerce contributes to a cultural, heritage and urban shift for Makkah and Madinah, and achieves the Kingdom’s ambitious 2030 vision, which paid special attention to the two holy cities through its goals in promoting values. Islamic and national identity, enriching visitors’ religious and cultural experience in addition to developing and diversifying the economy.

And he stated that the role of the business and finance sector comes at an advanced pace that opens wider horizons in attracting investments in all economic sectors worldwide, in addition to enhancing local content through a package of initiatives and services that will be provided within the framework of the agreement, for a prosperous Meccan and urban future.

In turn, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Youssef Khalawi, explained that the partnership between the three chambers and business sectors would enhance the great momentum through the various tracks, and through exhibition projects so that Makkah and Madinah would be an attractive forum for business, and organizing workshops on new concepts in The business world, holding business meetings and gatherings at the international level, specialized lectures and forums, as well as establishing permanent centers in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, issuing specialized economic reports, and developing studies.
