A helicopter involved in extinguishing forest fires in Türkiye crashes

Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli, announced that a helicopter that was participating in extinguishing fires in the Turkish province of Izmir fell into a water tank, and that one of its crew members was rescued.

Yumakli added on the “X” website on Sunday, “After examination, it became clear that the helicopter crashed and fell into a water tank, from which it was drawing water to extinguish a forest fire in the Menderes region.”

The minister explained that the police, coast guard and disaster management are participating in the search and rescue operation, adding that one crew member has been rescued, while rescuers are searching for three others.
