President Joe Biden announced on Thursday that a US debt default would be averted, as the clock ticked away from a race to find an agreement between the White House and Republican negotiators on raising the debt ceiling.
“There will be no default,” he said. Biden also said his negotiations with Republican Chairman Kevin McCarthy, who leads a narrow majority in the House of Representatives, have been “productive.”
