Lukashenko: We will not have to use nuclear weapons in Belarus, but their presence is necessary

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, confirmed that the nuclear weapons that will be transferred to the territory of the republic will never be used, stressing that their presence in his country is necessary.

The Belta agency quoted the Belarusian president as saying, “They are talking today about nuclear weapons that will reach Belarus. There is no need to criticize any party. I mentioned that earlier. This measure was my own initiative, and I strived to achieve it vigorously. The more we live, the more we will be convinced.” That we have them here in Belarus, in a safe place, and I am sure that we will never have to use them as long as we have them, because then the enemy will never set foot on our land.

The Belarusian leader added sarcastically: “I once mentioned during one of the large forums… If you feel confused about what you should do in this or that situation, then you only have to watch your enemies, if you find them screaming demanding not to do something, then you only have to do something.” Do the opposite. In our current situation we have heard them shouting that transferring nuclear weapons to Belarus is a bad step, so we will do the opposite.

Lukashenko recalled how the Belarusian opposition once shouted that it “intends to come to power and dismantle the Belarusian nuclear power plant, because the country does not need it.”

He continued, “Why did they say that? Because they received instructions from there … from our neighbors in Poland and Lithuania. And what do we see today? Lithuania is planning to build a new nuclear power plant, instead of the one that was dismantled, and Poland is planning to build two or three plants at once. Those The idiots we have listen and believe them when they say, “There is no need to build, but to dismantle the station, because they do not want competitors.” Countries that do not keep pace with innovations and scientific and technical progress are deteriorating and dying countries.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow and Minsk had agreed to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, without violating any of the international obligations they signed. Putin made it clear that Russia has been doing what the United States has been doing for decades.

According to Russian-Belarusian plans, Putin said in June, the transportation of the first nuclear shipments to the territory of Belarus will be completely completed by the end of the year.
