EU Representative for the Western Balkans Miroslav Lajcak and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Gabriel Escobar held talks with Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
The European and American diplomats, during the meeting that took place in Pristina today, expressed their concern about the situation in the region and demanded an immediate end to tension in the north of the unrecognized republic.
“We met with US Envoy Gabriel Escobar with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Deputy Prime Minister Pesnik Bislemi. We are very concerned about the situation in northern [Kosovo] and call for immediate de-escalation on the ground and early elections [in the northern municipalities of Kosovo],” Lycak wrote on Twitter. ] With the participation of the Kosovo Serbs and the return to normalization dialogue.
Lajcak and Escobar are expected to continue their visit to the region on Tuesday, where they will hold talks in Belgrade with Serbia’s leadership.
