Scottish police have arrested Nicola Sturgeon, former prime minister and leader of the Scottish National Party, as part of an ongoing investigation into the party’s finances.
“The former head of the government of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, has been arrested amid ongoing police investigations into the SNP’s finances,” the Scottish channel, STV, said on Sunday.
A Police Scotland statement confirmed that a 52-year-old woman had been taken into custody as a suspect in connection with the investigation.
“She has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding of the Scottish National Party,” the statement read.
