The head of British intelligence commits an intelligence error with a tweet

The congratulations of the head of the British Intelligence Service, Richard Moore, to the new Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, caused an uproar on the platforms, after he indicated in his congratulations to an account impersonating the Turkish minister via Twitter.

Moore wrote in a tweet in Turkish, “I wish my former friend and colleague success in his new position .. Good luck, Minister,” and then made a reference to an unofficial account that does not follow the Turkish foreign minister.

Although the account impersonating Hakan Fidan wrote in the account information that it is not official, and it is only a satirical account, this did not prevent Moore from referring to the account, because it seemed that he had not verified its authenticity before referring to it, which sparked sarcastic comments by tweeters in both English and Turkish. .

When alerted to the topic, Moore tweeted again, writing in Turkish, “Sorry, this is embarrassing, but even if the account is sarcastic, my best wishes come true!”

Moore served as ambassador to Turkey from 2014 to 2017, and in July 2020 he was appointed head of the Secret Intelligence Service in the United Kingdom.

Last Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the formation of the new government after the end of his inauguration ceremony for a new term, and Fidan, the former head of the intelligence service, received the portfolio of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
