Officials in the Israeli government stated that the Flag March will pass through the Damascus Gate following its normal course, and its direction and time will not change.
The march will begin today to make its way through the gates of the Old City of Jerusalem and reach the Western Wall (Al- Buraq Wall).
The idea of the Flag March was launched at the end of the sixties when Jewish Rabbi, Zvi Yehuda Kook, urged students to dance and celebrate in the street on the occasion of the founding of the Israeli state.
At the end of the day, the yeshiva students went out, celebrated, and danced. And that was the first step toward the creation of the Flag March, which expanded to reach the Western Wall.
This celebration has evolved into an annual tradition for the Israelis
