The Turkish “Justice and Development” nominates Numan Kurtulmus for the presidency of Parliament

Representatives of the Justice and Development Party and the National Movement in Turkey nominated the representative of the Istanbul state in the Justice and Development, Numan Kurtulmus, to preside over Parliament in its new session.

On Monday, the head of the Parliamentary Bloc for Justice and Development, Abdullah Guler, and the deputy head of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Nationalist Movement, Arkan Akcay, handed over the request for Kurtulmus’s candidacy for the presidency of Parliament to the Secretary-General of Parliament, Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoglu.

In a press statement, Guler explained that the period for submitting applications for candidacy for the presidency of Parliament began on June 3, and will continue until 24:00 pm, Tuesday.

For his part, Akcay indicated that the nationalist movement also nominated Kurtulmus for the presidency of Parliament.

He said, “We are all confident that Mr. Numan Kurtulmus will assume the presidency of the Parliament of Turkey to the fullest.”

Elections for a Speaker of Parliament will be held on June 7 at the Parliament’s General Assembly
