US presidential candidate Nikki Haley said that Washington needs to strengthen its alliance with Russia to enhance global security.
The statements of the former US ambassador to the United Nations came, in a television interview, yesterday, Saturday, when she touched on the regions of the world that she felt America could pay more attention to.
Referring to the Arab world, Haley said the United States wanted Arab countries to “sort of join us” in confronting Iran.
“You see Saudi Arabia doing deals with China, it’s not good for us,” she added.
However, Haley’s campaign team was quick to describe her words as a “slip of the tongue.”
“She clearly misspoke,” said spokesman Ken Varnaso, adding that “no one has been tougher on Russia than Nikki Haley.”
In February, Haley announced her candidacy for the US presidency, in the elections that will take place next year.
Last Friday, the Republican Party announced that it would organize a debate for the candidates for the 2024 US presidential elections, next August.
