Alcaraz beats Sinner, sets Indian Wells final with Medvedev

Top-seeded Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 on Saturday to set up a title clash with Daniil Medvedev at the Indian Wells WTA and ATP Masters 1000.

The 19-year-old Spaniard, who can return to number one in the world with a third career Masters 1000 title on Sunday, saved a set point to force the first-set tiebreaker and gained the lone break early in the second set to post a third win in five meetings with the Italian.

Medvedev, seeking his fourth win in as many tournaments after victories at Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai, defeated Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 7-6 (7/4).
