Egyptian judo team delegation arrives in Cairo, returning from Tunisia, carrying 12 medals in the African Championship

The delegation of Egyptian national judo team arrived in Egypt after leaving Tunisia after participating in the African Open Championship for Youth and Junior, and won 12 gold, silver and bronze medals at the junior and youth levels.

Marzouq Ali, President of the Egyptian Judo Federation and First Vice President of the Arab Judo Federation, said in press statements in Tunis that this generation has been prepared and equipped to climb the podiums in all continental and international championships.

He pointed out that the tournament was very strong and the national team was able to achieve outstanding results, as the national team players faced world-ranked competitors, and were able to overcome them and claim first places, noting that preparations for upcoming events and competitions are underway.

For his part, Captain Sayed Abu Midan, coach of the Egyptian national team for the women’s judo team, said that there are five medals that the girls were able to win at the youth level after they presented strong and highly competitive matches with competitors from different countries and internationally ranked, where Zeinab Safa, weighing 48 kg, won the bronze medal. And Tasneem Rushdi, weighing 57 kg, won the silver medal, as well as Fatima Muhammad Attia, weighing 63 kg, snatching the silver medal, and Farida Magdy, weighing 70 kg, the bronze medal, and the player Aya Ihab, weighing 78 kg, won the bronze medal.

In turn, Captain Mohamed Ali, coach of the Egyptian national team for judo men, said that the players were able to achieve four medals between gold, silver and bronze, and they faced internationally ranked competitors from Britain, France, the United States and other countries, where the player Omar Al-Ramli weighing 90 kg won the gold medal, While Ammar Abu Hashem, weighing 73 kg, was crowned with the silver medal after very strong matches he played against players from America and Britain holding the “first in the world rankings.” Ali Abdel-Aal, weighing 81 kg, and Hadi Hussein, weighing 100 kg, won the bronze medal 81 kg Fifth place in the championship.

He added that the national judo team delegation was also able to win three medals at the junior level, including two gold medals for Ammar Abu Hashem, weighing 73 kg, and Nadi Fayez, weighing 52 kg, while Zainab Al-Sayed Safa, weighing 48 kg, won a silver medal.

Zainab Safa, the player of the Egyptian national team and the Al-Ittihad Club of Alexandria, expressed her happiness with what she achieved in the tournament, stressing that the tournament included very strong matches.

She added: Representing Egypt in those international championships and forums and competitions in which competitors from all over the world participate is a great honor.

Dr. Mohamed Mounir, head of the technical staff of the judo team at Al-Ittihad Club of Alexandria and coach of the player Zainab Safa, said that the player was able to take first place in the African Championship in 2022, and she has personal and physical characteristics and abilities that qualify her to win first places in Africa and globally, stressing the importance of support and care for the players.
