Turkey’s women win the Goalball World Championship

On Friday, Turkey Women’s National Goalball Team wascrowned world champion, after defeating its opponent from South Korea with a score of 10 goals to 4.

In the final match of the Goalball World Championship in Matosinhos, Portugal, the Turkey Women’s National Goalball Team met its South Korean opponent.

The Turkish women were able to end the first half with a three-goal lead to one for the South Korean’s.

The goals difference rose in the second half, which ended with a smashing victory for the Turkish team with a score of 10 goals to 4.

With this result, Turkey Women’s National Goalball Team won the Goalball World Championship, Turkey’s first women’s title in this sport.

Women’s National Goalball Team finished third in the 2014 edition and was a runner-up in the 2018 Goalball World Championship.

Goalball, a team sport for the blind or visually impaired, was invented by Austrian Hans Lorenzen and German Sepp Reindle in 1946 to rehabilitate veterans.
