Egypt: Chinese Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism visits the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir

Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities:

Mr. Li Qun, Chairman of the National Authority of Antiquities and Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism.

and his accompanying delegation visited the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, as a continuation of his visits to archaeological sites and museums, during his current official visit to Egypt.

Where they were received by Dr. Ali Abdel Halim, Director General of the Museum, who welcomed them and took them on a tour inside the various halls of the Museum.

The tour included the hall of treasures of Yuya and Toya, the ancestors of King Akhenaten, the hall of the golden king Tutankhamun, the halls of the Old Kingdom and the Greco-Roman era, and the museum’s restoration laboratories.

During the tour, Dr. Ali Abdel Halim gave them a full explanation of the history of the museum building, the unique and distinct artifacts it contains, the museum display method, as well as its development project, the first phase of which was inaugurated last February.

He also gave them an overview of the most important educational and cultural programs, workshops and temporary archaeological exhibitions organized by the museum to shed light on the most important local and international events and event.

, and to activate its role as a cultural, educational and community institution that aims to spread cultural and archaeological awareness among the public.

He was also keen to inform him about the activities of the cultural exhibition of industrial heritage, which was organized by the museum as part of its celebration of the International Day of Museums.

and the techniques owned by the museum in this field, including ventilation machines and their places inside the museum.

The Chinese Deputy Minister expressed his happiness with this visit, and his admiration for the unique artifacts in the museum. He also took memorial photos of him inside the museum to commemorate this visit.

The delegation included the cultural advisor at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, and a group of university professors in Beijing and Shanghai who specialize in archaeology, sunken antiquities and restoration.

It is noteworthy that Mr. Ahmed Issa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, had met yesterday with Mr. Li Qun at the ministry’s headquarters in Zamalek.

to discuss ways to enhance aspects of cooperation between the two countries at the tourism and archaeological level.

Mr. Li Qun and his accompanying delegation also visited the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, during which they enjoyed a tour inside the museum’s various halls.

and its most important archaeological holdings, which tell the history of Egyptian civilization throughout the ages.
