Spanish Ambassador to Cairo: 180,000 tourists visited Egypt last year

Albaro Iranzo, the Spanish ambassador to Cairo, stated that 180,000 Spanish tourists visited Egypt last year 2022 to discover the wonders that this country abounds in, stressing the importance of cultural tourism through which tourists get acquainted with many tourist places throughout the year and discover an ancient civilization that extends back thousands of years. Islamic and Coptic art, as well as visiting the picturesque natural sights.

This came in a speech delivered by the Spanish ambassador in Cairo during the activities of the “Third Forum for Lectures on Egyptology and Tourism”, which will be held virtually and will last for two days, with the participation of students and professors from the universities of Luxor, Minya, Zagazig and the Spanish University of Malaga.

He explained that Spanish tourism in Egypt is a cultural tourism through which tourists get acquainted with many tourist places throughout the year and discover an ancient civilization that extends for thousands of years and Islamic and Coptic art, in addition to visiting the picturesque natural attractions.

He added: As you know, about 3 years ago, I started lectures on Egyptology and tourism, which is a group of free lectures in Spanish over the Internet, followed by many people in the Mediterranean and Latin American countries. Which allows students to enrich their knowledge of the Spanish language and acquire capabilities related to their future career in the fields of tourism and hospitality.

The Spanish ambassador in Cairo said: We asked, in the current session, specialists in social networks to give practical lectures related to this field, and through their advice, we will be able to know better how to create platforms to create job opportunities in the field of tourism, such as Facebook and Instagram.

He added: Modern technologies and artificial intelligence open up many new areas of knowledge. Egyptology will benefit from this technological advance, but nothing can replace the work being done by the Spanish and Egyptian scholars.
