Tunisia: Tourism receipts up 66%

Tunisian tourism revenues have reached 881 million Tunisian Dinar, until March 20, 2023, up 66% compared to the same period of 2022, according to monetary and financial indicators published by the Central Bank of Tunisia.

Cumulative workers’ remittances have in turn increased by 9.4%, going from 1.5 billion Tunisian Dinar in March 2022, to 1.6 billion Tunisian Dinar.

Similarly, the accumulated external debt services rose 19%, to 2.2 billion Tunisian Dinar.

The Central Bank of Tunisia reported a decrease in net foreign exchange reserves to 22 billion Tunisian Dinar (95 days of imports) as of March 27, compared to 22.9 billion Tunisian Dinar (125 days of imports) in March 2022.

The overall volume of refinancing exceeded 15 billion Tunisian Dinar, up 45% compared to the same period in 2022.

As for the total interbank transactions, they dropped 34% to 1.5 billion Tunisian Dinar, compared to 2.3 billion Tunisian Dinar on March 27, 2022.

The money market rate reached 8.04%, against 6.26% on the same date last year.
