With an exquisite brush, the visual artist Ghassan Jadid carried the city of Tartous, with its homes and sea, through his paintings to Damascus.He was able to leave an impact on the hearts of the recipients through cheerful colors that were strongly present in his solo exhibition, which opened today at the Blue House Gallery in Damascus.

A new display of 59 works inspired by the places and heritage of the city of Tartous, including the Knights Castle and the walls, towers and squares that existed previously, using acrylic colours.

In his interview with SANA’s correspondent, Jadid stated that the city of Tartous is a combination of the solidity of the walls and the moisture of the water, and although the number of houses in the paintings is small, he painted them in their old style, trying to show a kind of simplification and abbreviation, and he returned to constructing the work in terms of balance, color, texture, and sensation, in addition to the event in the sense of mixing between The external view and the internal thing, trying to convey happiness and tranquility through happy colors so that his paintings become loving messages about the city of Tartous.

Dr. Jamal Shaheed, one of the visitors to the exhibition, expressed his admiration for the existing paintings that the artist Jadid was able to carefully choose the subject of, which are houses. He explained that thinking about a house means thinking about its inhabitants, in addition to the beauty of the colors used, which gave a spirit of joy and delight.

It is noteworthy that the artist Ghassan Jadid graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus in 1971 and held 40 exhibitions inside and outside Syria, such as Lebanon, Jordan, France, and London.
