‘With Art We Lead’: Shangri-La Jeddah elevates Saudi National day with One-of-a-Kind Art & culture celebrations

Shangri-La Jeddah is honoured to announce a vibrant celebration of Saudi National Day through art and culture. This extraordinary event has been meticulously curated to pay tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the region, contributing to the Kingdom’s dynamic art scene while inspiring a deep sense of patriotism through artistic expression.

The Shangri-La Jeddah With Art We Lead (بالفن نسبق) is a unique platform that encapsulates the authentic spirit of the Hejaz region and pays homage to the region’s art history. As patrons of the arts community in Saudi Arabia, Shangri-La Jeddah takes pride in nurturing local talents and fostering cultural appreciation among its visitors.

The celebrations are taking place over the course of the week leading up to the Saudi National Day and will feature local artists, showcasing the incredible creativity and talent that resides within the Kingdom.

Through a collaboration with Ahlam Gallery, a landmark for modern and contemporary art, Shangri-La Jeddah are hosting a variety of art activities, for guests, visitors and art enthusiasts to engage with and indulge in.

Running from the 18th to the 23rd of September, a Live Art Marathon by Ahlam Gallery held at the property. The first of its kind, guests have the opportunity to witness Jeddah-based artists come together to create a magnificent masterpiece on a colossal 6-meter blank canvas. The five day art marathon, followed by additional empty canvas which give space for our guests to participate till the end of 23rd of September, is a captivating spectacle of artistic prowess, embodying the patriotic essence of the National Day.

To mark the 93rd National Day, Shangri-La Jeddah invites guests to step back in time with the installation of a historical monument, a 160-year-old Hijazi door from Makkah and capture timeless moments. Visitors can also immerse themselves in the essence of Saudi heritage through a Roshan-inspired photobooth. This photogenic setting offers the perfect backdrop to create and preserve cherished memories.

Art enthusiasts will get the opportunity to witness renowned artist Najla Abdulshakour, as she graces the celebrations with her two-day residency in one of Shangri-La Jeddah’s suites. Beholding the transformation of the suite’s views into captivating works of art, seamlessly blending tradition and modernity.

Guests can marvel at the talents of artist Ahmed Angawi, the creative force behind the Roshan ceiling which was a commission installation by Angawi Studio in COPA, showcasing his ability to seamlessly meld tradition with innovation. Exploring the rich history of the Roshan, an architectural gem that has withstood the test of time, visitors will experience the revival of this iconic element at Shangri-La Jeddah, paying tribute to the region’s cultural roots.
