Rapidly spreading within communities, rumors are fake and fabricated news characterized by excitement and suspense, but lacking reliable sources or credible evidence to prove their accuracy and correctness.
In fact, spreading rumors is regarded as an extremely dangerous “weapon” that weakens nations and disintegrates societies. Unfortunately, circulating fake news leads to spreading it widely without any evidence or controls.
The goal of spreading rumors is to attract the attention of people and fool readers into agreeing with the intention of those spreading them. Therefore, it is the duty of every individual in society not to circulate any piece of news or information which is not accurate and not supported by evidence due to the destructive impact of rumors on communities and individuals. Some rumors are directed to spread fear to negatively affect people, while others aim at hindering the economic and social action to stop societies from developing. This means that rumors have a systematic goal represented by attacking societies and stop their advancement, so everyone must be cautious with regard to what he/she publishes on social media and must verify the accuracy of published news, in addition to looking for the sources and evidence of any news because of the spread of fake news directed at damaging societies and entrapping victims using fabricated news and information. Finally, it is important to keep in mind that such fake news and information are spread in order to undermine the national and societal security, and destroy the structure of the country in which rumors are spread.
Accordingly, from our platform, we draw the attention of everyone to the necessity to be aware of all published materials to protect society and be fully responsible for not sharing any news that would lead to the fall of our society.
