Türkiye raises the key interest rate to 45%

The Turkish Central Bank on Thursday raised the key interest rate as part of a tightening of monetary policy that has increased borrowing costs by more than five-fold to combat record inflation.

The bank raised its key interest rate from 42.5% to 45%, saying it would “maintain this level as long as necessary.”
