Egypt: Nuclear and radiation control holds a series of meetings to cooperate with international bodies

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, Dr. Sami Shaaban, met with Mr. Khaled Al-Issa, CEO of the Saudi Nuclear Regulatory Authority, the Chairman of the Russian Regulatory Authority, and Mrs. Andrea Beatrix, Chairman of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority.

And representatives of the Saudi regulatory authority, in the presence of “Rami Afifi,” the chief communications specialist at the Egyptian regulatory authority, on the sidelines of his participation in the general conference meetings held in Vienna.

 

The head of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority stressed that Egypt is keen on cooperation and exchange of experiences in various fields. He also stressed that any cooperation agreement must achieve the common interest of both parties.

Dr. Sami Shaaban also pointed out that the Authority in its new form has many experiences.

In cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, it established a center to support nuclear security, which is considered the largest center at the regional level.

It provides training in the field of nuclear security at the national and regional levels.

The Authority also established a 24-hour situation analysis center, equipped with the latest technologies and monitoring and follow-up screens.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

His Excellency met with the head of the Russian regulatory authority, where current and future areas of cooperation were discussed. At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian side praised the depth of cooperation between the two regulatory bodies, and for his part, the Chairman of the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority thanked him for holding the meeting and the Russian side’s keenness to cooperate.

During the meeting, the aspects of the contract with the Russian consultant were reviewed, the most important achievements were identified, and it was agreed to formulate a specific work plan for the coming period.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the conclusion of the third day of the General Conference, a meeting was held with the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority, during which aspects of future cooperation were discussed and the importance of sharing knowledge and expertise was emphasized, especially with regard to the process of granting licenses, review and evaluation.

The Hungarian side expressed its aspiration to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, which was supported by the Egyptian side, provided that specific aspects of cooperation are agreed upon and a clear plan of action is formulated, achieving mutual benefit for both parties.
