Iraq..Al-Sudani directed the need to resolve the lagging projects file

The Ministry of Planning confirmed, , Friday, that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed the necessity of resolving the lagging projects file.

The ministry’s spokesman, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Muhammad Ali Tamim, formed a committee headed by him, and with the membership of the head of the Integrity Commission, the head of the Financial Supervision Bureau, and others, to discuss the reality of the lagging projects that There were 1,452 projects distributed among all the various development sectors, between ministries and governorates.

Al-Hindawi added, “The committee formed above began to address the reasons that led to the cessation of the lagging projects,” indicating that “about 400 projects were addressed, and the remaining 1,063 lagging projects, of which 562 projects are within the projects of the ministries and the investment program of the ministries, and the remaining approximately 501 projects are within the development program.

He continued, “Another committee was also formed, headed by the Minister of Planning, which is the Diwani Order Committee 45, which is charged with looking into the obstacles facing lagging hospital projects,” pointing out that “the committee succeeded in finding solutions for 73 hospitals with different bed capacities from (100 to 600).”.

He explained that “some of the hospitals have been completed and others are in the process of work,” stressing that “there is guidance and confirmation from Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani about the necessity of resolving the lagging projects file in all the various ministries and agencies.”.

He pointed out that “yesterday, the Ministry of Planning finished discussing the plans of the ministries, governorates, and all agencies not affiliated with a ministry for the year 2024, including discussing the importance and necessity of all agencies providing a statement of the reality of the lagging projects in these agencies, the rates of completion, what are the amounts required to complete them, and the executive capacity of these agencies.” To complete the projects in order to develop the necessary allocations and plan for their completion, as well as focusing on projects that have advanced completion rates of 70% and above a service nature, with emphasis on the executive capacity of the entity that owns these projects.”.

Al-Hindawi continued, “The file of lagging projects receives great attention from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Planning,” stressing that “the Ministry is keen and serious about developing solutions and treatments for all lagging projects in order to complete them due to their developmental and service importance.”
