Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani received a phone call from French President.

PM Al-Sudani received on Tuesday, received a phone call from the French President Emmanuel Macron, according to a statement by the media office of the Prime Minister, received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

During the call, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, implement the provisions of the strategic partnership agreement signed between the two countries, and develop relations on the economic, cultural, security, and military levels.

The conversation particularly highlighted the significance of the contract for the purchase of radars from the French company Thales, which the Cabinet voted on today. This contract will play a crucial role in enabling Iraq to tighten its control over the Iraqi airspace and assert its full sovereignty.

Additionally, Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed his condolences to President Macron over the loss of a French soldier who participated in an Iraqi operation against the terrorist organization Daesh. The operation involved the engagement of French military advisors.

The call also touched upon the preparations for the upcoming Baghdad 2023 Conference on Economic Integration and Regional Cooperation. Furthermore, the discussion included President Macron’s planned official visit to the capital, Baghdad, reflecting a significant step in enhancing diplomatic ties. The two leaders exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, underscoring their commitment to mutual cooperation.
