Iraq..PM assures the US Secretary of State and Defense of Iraq’s protecting military advisors and diplomatic missions

Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani discussed , with the US Secretaries of State and Defense the developments of events in the Gaza Strip and the protection of diplomatic missions.

“PM Al-Sudani received a phone call from the Secretary of State of the United States of America, Anthony Blinken, during which the developments of the escalating events in the Gaza Strip were discussed, as well as the worsening humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people, and stressing the importance of coordination to ensure continuous and safe access to food supplies, water, medical care, and other aid required to meet the humanitarian needs of the people,” said the Prime Minister’s Media Office in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.

During the call, they showed “the appreciation of Iraq’s efforts in providing humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza and the emphasis on the necessity of coordinating joint efforts to ensure stability in the region and not expand the arena of conflict.”

According to the statement, the US Prime Minister and Secretary of State renewed the commitment of the two countries to continue strengthening their partnership, in accordance with the principles contained in the Strategic Framework Agreement concluded between Iraq and the United States.

The Prime Minister also received another call from US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, during which they discussed the presence of military advisors and crews of the international coalition to fight terrorism in Iraq, supporting the Iraqi security forces with advice and training, in addition to the importance of sustaining the victory over Daesh.

The statement included, “Iraq’s commitment to protecting military advisors and missions, diplomacy working in the country.”
