Jordanian PM meets with Omani foreign minister over cooperation

-Prime Minister, Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, on Thursday received Omani Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, Khasawneh stressed depth of the “brotherly and historical” bilateral relations and the constant keenness to strengthen ties to achieve visions and directives of King Abdullah II and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.

The PM also stressed importance of the meetings of the Joint Jordanian-Omani Committee, which was held in Amman today, headed by the two countries’ foreign ministers, underscoring their role in reaching “tangible” results by signing multiple cooperation agreements, aimed to serve common interests.

Khasawneh lauded Oman’s “prudent” policy and its efforts in dealing with multiple regional and international issues.

Khasawneh and Albusaidi discussed the region’s developments, a slew of regional and international issues, and efforts to resolve regional crises, especially with regard to the Palestinian cause.

The two sides emphasized importance of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the issue, which leads to establishment of an independent Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 lines, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital.

PM and Omani top diplomat stressed the two countries’ rejection of Israeli aggression against the brotherly Palestinian people and the unilateral Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories, highlighting need to preserve Jerusalem’s historical and legal status quo and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.

For his part, the Omani FM conveyed greetings of  Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to King Abdullah II and wishes for Jordan to achieve further progress and prosperity.

Albusaidi affirmed his country’s appreciation for Jordan’s efforts  King Abdullah II’s leadership in a “difficult” regional environment, expressing his confidence in Jordan’s capability to overcome challenges.

Moreover, Khasawneh was briefed by Jordanian and Omani foreign ministers on activities of the joint Jordanian-Omani Committee, during which the two countries signed cooperation agreements, focusing on the sectors of mining, manufacturing industries, agriculture, pharmaceutical industries and food security, in addition to the agreement aimed to activate joint Jordanian-Omani Business Council.
