The Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan on November 9, during which he will hold talks with his Kazakh counterpart Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Kremlin said in a statement on Tuesday that the two leaders are scheduled to discuss “the basic issues related to the further development of strategic partnership and alliance relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, and the prospects for cooperation within the frameworks of integration in the Eurasian space, in addition to pressing regional and international issues.”

The statement stated that Putin and Tokaev will participate via video in the plenary session of the 19th Forum for Regional Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, which will be held in the city of Kostanay.

It is expected that a number of important joint documents will be signed at the conclusion of the visit, and the two presidents will make statements to the media, according to the Kremlin statement.

Commenting on Putin’s upcoming visit to Kazakhstan, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “We are working to develop our independent relations with Kazakhstan, as these relations are much closer than those between Kazakhstan and many other countries.”

He added: “We are historical and natural partners and allies, and this upcoming official visit is of great importance in terms of continuing to develop the entire system of our bilateral relations.”
