A 7.1-magnitude earthquake hits the coast of Indonesia

The US Geological Survey announced that it had recorded a 7.1-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Indonesia.

The earthquake occurred at 19.55 UTC, 192.1 km south of the city of Labuan Lombok, which has a population of 100 thousand people. The source is located at a depth of 515.8 km.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Indonesia suffers from frequent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis because of its location on the “Ring of Fire”. It is a 40,000 km strip of volcanoes and tectonic faults that surrounds the Pacific Ocean.
