A meeting between a Taliban delegation and US officials in Doha

The US State Department said on Wednesday that US officials will meet a delegation of Taliban representatives and “technical experts” from key Afghan ministries during a visit to Doha this week, adding that they will discuss three main issues: security, drugs and women’s rights.

The ministry stated in a statement that Thomas West, the US Special Envoy for Afghanistan, and Rina Amiri, the US Special Envoy for Women’s and Girls’ Rights and Human Rights in Afghanistan, will travel to Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, and from there to the Qatari capital, Doha, from July 26 to 31.

And it was stated in the statement that the officials will meet in Nur-Sultan with officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, to discuss the issue of Afghanistan. The statement added that the US officials will also meet civil society activists in the field of women’s rights.
