Burkinabé army announces the elimination of about 50 militants in the northwest of the country

The Burkinabé army announced that it had killed about 50 militants during clashes in the Barané region, northwest of the country.

The Burkina Faso news agency quoted army sources as saying that army units were attacked in the Barany region while they were carrying out an offensive reconnaissance mission.

The agency indicated that the army used air cover to eliminate a number of fleeing attackers.

The sources stated that the Burkinabé army forces are carrying out sweeping operations in the region in order to restore the country’s territorial integrity.
