Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged Western countries to implement their obligations to Russia regarding the grain deal, noting that Russia’s demands are “clear and self-evident.”

This came in statements made by Erdogan to reporters from his plane upon his return from India, where the G20 summit was held.

TRT TV quoted Erdogan as saying: “At this stage, Western countries must take the necessary measures and fulfill their promises. Of course, we raised the issue of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s proposal to send one million tons of grain at the present time. We will ask Mr. Putin to increase this amount.” .

He added: “Of course, the West must also fulfill its obligations in this context. It is not only about grains, but also about fertilizers. The issue of fertilizers cannot be underestimated.”

He said: “Russia’s demands are clear and self-evident. There are a number of things that Russia believes have not been implemented. (Moscow) wants to create a payment mechanism in order to obtain money for the grain it sends through this corridor. And also lift restrictions on securing its ships… We are trying to solve These problems and get results.

Erdogan pointed out that “reviving the grain agreement was a common desire of the leaders at the G20 summit… While Western countries appreciate Turkey’s efforts (in this regard), they must also make an effort to fulfill its promises.”
