Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani during his visit to Moscow, and delegation meetings are now being held in the Kremlin representative office.

This is the first meeting between Putin and Al-Sudani, as the Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit was planned before the events in Palestine, and the discussions will carefully consider developing multifaceted Russian-Iraqi cooperation, in addition to current issues on the international agenda, especially the situation in the Middle East.

In his statements prior to the talks, President Putin expressed his regret at the worsening situation in Israel, describing it as “a clear example of the failure of American policy in the Middle East,” and urged all parties to the conflict to strive to reduce the harm to civilians to zero.

Putin stressed that Moscow and Baghdad are successfully coordinating work within the framework of “OPEC+” to achieve stability in global energy markets.
