The 3rd Forum for International Cooperation “One Belt – One Road” will begin today in Beijing in the presence of the “guest of honour” Russian President Vladimir Putin, who will hold comprehensive discussions with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Beijing in preparation for the visit of President Vladimir Putin.

He met his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, and they pointed out the importance of strengthening coordination between Russia and China in the arenas of the United Nations, the UN Security Council, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the G20, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum and other organizations.

Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov announced that President Putin and Chinese leader Xi will comprehensively discuss bilateral relations and the process of forming a more just multipolar world order.

The Russian delegation includes dozens of ministers, deputy ministers, and heads of major Russian industrial and economic companies and institutions, including the military and railways.

Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu announced that representatives of more than 140 countries and 30 international organizations have confirmed their participation in the forum and that the number of guests is approximately 4,000 people.

China Central Television indicated that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape, President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sasso, President of the Republic of the Congo Dene Sassou Nguesso, and Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet arrived in Beijing. , President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickramasinghe, and Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima.

The Hungarian Prime Minister’s press office also stated that Prime Minister Viktor Orban also arrived in Beijing, as did Chilean President Gabriel Boric and Kenyan President William Ruto.

“One Belt – One Road” Initiative

The “One Belt – One Road” initiative was launched by Xi Jinping 10 years ago, and today includes more than 150 countries, including Russia, while more than 30 international organizations have signed cooperation agreements within the framework of the initiative.

So far, the initiative has mobilized $1 trillion in investments, launched more than 3,000 projects in countries along the route, and saved 40 million people from poverty.
