Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the statements of Armenian politicians claiming that Russia handed over Karabakh to Azerbaijan are false and lack tact and integrity.

Lavrov added, at a press conference at the end of the G-20 summit that took place in the Indian capital: “Someone there, I believe the Speaker of Parliament, allowed to say that Russia handed over Karabakh to Azerbaijan. It is difficult for one to imagine a statement that lacks tact and honesty more than that.”

Lavrov expressed his hope that the alliance’s commitments to Moscow will prevail in Armenia’s foreign policy.

In response to a question about the position of the Russian side on military exercises between Armenia and the United States, the minister said: “I really hope that all alliance commitments that exist between us, which we value, will remain valid and prevail in Armenia’s foreign policy.”

The G20 summit was held in New Delhi from 9 to 10, and in addition to the members of the group, nine other countries participated: Bangladesh, Egypt, Spain, Mauritius, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman and Singapore. Russia was represented at this summit by its Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
