The Lebanese delegation continues its preparations to participate in the 9th Francophone Games, which will be held in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, from July 28 to August 6. The delegation, consisting of 94 people, whose delegation was formed by the Minister of Youth and Sports in the caretaker government, Dr. George Kallas, will leave at dawn next Monday, via Rafic Hariri International Airport, to arrive in Kinshasa the same afternoon.

The Lebanese will participate in 9 games: table tennis, athletics, judo, road cycling, basketball for girls under 25 years old, football for youth under 20 years old, people with special needs (Handisport), and two cultural competitions.

The Lebanese national football team for youth under 20 years old was in Group D, along with Morocco, Ivory Coast and Guinea. On the other hand, the U-25 girls’ basketball team fell into Group A, along with the host country, Guinea and Congo.

More than 1,500 young people, artists and athletes representing 42 countries from five continents will participate in the ninth Games.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo government confirmed that it had “completed all security and health preparations and plans to host the Games in its ninth edition.”

It should be noted that the ninth edition of the Francophone Games in Kinshasa was postponed twice, the first in 2021 due to the “Corona pandemic” and the second in 2022 due to the lack of ready infrastructure.
