Madrid derby the highlight of Spanish Super Cup

KSA will host the Spanish Super Cup football competition in its 40th edition for the fourth time, which brings together defending champion Barcelona, ​​Real Madrid and its arch-neighbors Atletico and Osasuna.

Real, the cup champion, and Atletico, third in the league, will face off in the semi-final on Wednesday, while Barcelona, ​​the league champion, will play Osasuna, the cup runner-up, in the other semi-final on Thursday, with the final match to be held on Sunday, the 14th of this month.

All matches will be held at Al-Awal Park Stadium, home of Al-Nasr Club in the capital, Riyadh, which can accommodate approximately 25,000 spectators.

Barcelona holds the record

Barcelona holds the record for the number of Super Cup victories with 14 titles, ahead of Real Madrid (12), Athletic Bilbao and Deportivo La Coruna (3), and Atletico Madrid (2).

Real Madrid, the leader of La Liga this season and which lost last year’s Super Cup final to its arch-rival Barcelona 1-3, hopes to correct the situation this year and win the title for the third time since the adoption of the new system for the competition.
