Digital Economy Holds a Workshop on Artificial Intelligence: “Transformation from Strategic Planning to Implementation”

, on Sunday, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship held a three-day workshop titled “Artificial Intelligence: Transformation from Strategic Planning to Implementation”.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with the European Union, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the utilization of technology and artificial intelligence in the development of various sectors.

The aim is to strengthen national capabilities in the fields of innovation and technological progress through the exchange of knowledge and experiences with esteemed international organizations.

The Ministry emphasized the significance of this workshop in enhancing institutional capabilities and facilitating the transition of government institutions from the strategic planning phase to the implementation phase in artificial intelligence projects. Additionally, the workshop aims to showcase the best international practices in implementing artificial intelligence strategies effectively, as well as fostering the exchange of ideas and experiences regarding the implementation of artificial intelligence strategy projects in Jordan, aligning with international standards.

The Director of Policies and Information at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Abdul Qader Al-Batayneh, expressed his happiness in cooperating with the European Union through the EU’s TAIEX program in the field of artificial intelligence. He mentioned that this workshop is the first of its kind offered by the program in this field, and Jordan is one of the pioneers in raising the subject of artificial intelligence within this program. He also highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the Ministry and the European Union, noting that the Ministry has already developed Jordan’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Implementation Plan (2023-2027) in cooperation with the European Union, which was approved in October 2022.

Over the course of three days, more than 120 participants from the public sector, including employees from different job levels, are taking part in a workshop. The workshop has a special focus on specialists and stakeholders in the field of artificial intelligence and also includes representatives from the private sector, artificial intelligence companies, professors, and academic experts in the field of artificial intelligence and data. The workshop includes a discussion of numerous case studies presented by specialized experts from European Union countries, where they share their countries’ experiences in the field of artificial intelligence across various sectors. The countries that are covered include Austria, Estonia, Sweden, and Finland. Additionally, the workshop presents the European Union’s approach to regulating and developing legislation on artificial intelligence. Furthermore, there is a discussion on generative artificial intelligence and its applications in government.

For her part, Angela Martini, the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Jordan, emphasized the importance of the partnership between Jordan and the European Union. She highlighted that the Union aims to contribute to the development of society and economic growth by focusing on information technology systems like artificial intelligence. The Union also aims to support and implement the digital transformation strategy and digitize government services.
